Welcome to my website, which is filled with my personal thoughts and opinions on education.
I am an English teacher in Scotland with a particular interest in global citizenship, and make every effort to reflect this in my approach to teaching.
Right now I, like everyone else in Scotland, am grappling with the New Qualifications for Curriculum for Excellence, with my first National 5 class due to sit their exam in just a few weeks. Much of my writing focuses on the changes occurring in Scottish education and the impact that they are having on teachers and pupils (both good and bad).
My past posts can be viewed by clicking here.
I have also decided to make all of my teaching resources for National 5 English available for free to anyone who wants them (other teachers, pupils, parents and carers, tutors etc.) and these can be viewed here.
I completed my PGDE in 2011 at the University of the West of Scotland (Ayr campus) having previously graduated with a BA(Hons) in English Studies from the University of Strathclyde. I have also been featured in the Guardian Teacher Network.
